Teenage Acne
There are several reasons behind acne production in puberty
(teenage acne). The American Academy of Dermatology states that
one of the reasons is the result of excessively productive
sebaceous glands. These glands produce sebum and are attached
on the hair follicles. Sebum is an oily substance which can
lead to the production of blemishes on the skin if trapped on
the hair follicles. Also, acne can be a product of bacterial
reproduction at an abnormal pace.
Dermatologists often provide treatments using topical
antibiotics. These medications are efficient in destroying
Propionibacterium acnes, which is the primary cause of acne.
Additionally, the shedding of dead skin cells too quickly and
the release of toxic substances through the skin may also be
the cause for this skin disorder.
During the teen years, excess sebum
production usually occurs in teenage males due to significant
hormonal changes in a young man’s body. This may lead to skin
lesions. Consequently, this form of acne is more prevalent in
young men.
Acne at this age can be difficult to treat, similar to cases
of adult
acne.. However,
determining the cause of the acne will make selecting the
appropriate treatment that much easier. If
you select an over-the-counter acne medication, like
the ZENMED DermaCleanse System, you should
continue the acne treatment for 3-4 months to determine
the effectiveness of the treatment for your
skin.
More often than not, the root cause will be discovered
eventually and this will lead to the right acne treatment
remedy for the skin disorder.
