Blackheads are ugly, unsightly, dirty looking — you name it. Let’s face it; they are unsightly and unattractive, and are something we all want to get rid of. How to remove blackheads, though, without leaving permanent scars? And can you actually rid yourself of acne once and for all, so that you never have to worry about unsightly blackheads ever again?

Although it may seem impossible to get rid of blackheads, in fact, you certainly can. There are lots of products on the market that exfoliate and that contain very effective ingredients like benzoyl peroxide, to both remove blackheads and keep them away, all without scarring. In addition to blackheads, products with benzoyl peroxide in them can treat all acne breakouts quite effectively.

Some of these treatments are pretty caustic, though, so be careful. If you have particularly sensitive skin, you’ll want to know how to remove blackheads while protecting sensitive skin at the same time. Benzoyl peroxide may be too harsh for your skin, and if so, use a product that contains salicylic acid instead. This type of product will clear your skin, exfoliate, and keep acne away in a much gentler fashion than those with benzoyl peroxide will.

Being prone to acne

Especially if you’re in a particularly hormonal stage of life, such as if you are a teenager or in your middle years and about to go into menopause, acne can certainly rear its ugly head simply because it’s encouraged to by the hormonal fluctuations in your body. Other things that can also exacerbate acne include diet, less than stellar hygiene, certain use of makeup products, and excessive oil production in the body.

You do have an effect on some of these things, while others are quite beyond your control. Even so, helping those things you can is going to help you eliminate acne when it comes to how to remove blackheads.

Good hygiene helps - but be gentle

Practicing good hygiene, gently, can help minimize or even eliminate acne breakouts. Showering or washing your face at least once a day (twice a day if acne is particularly severe) can help prevent breakouts. Using a mild soap or cleanser that’s been specially formulated to treat acne is going to work best for you. When you wash, make sure you wash gently and don’t scrub, so that irritation doesn’t occur. If you cause irritation, breakouts could become worse and starring could happen, too.

Eating right can make your skin healthier

A fad diet is never going to work no matter what you do, but do focus on eating fresh, healthy foods and minimize or eliminate processed foods, junk foods, and that sort of thing. Your skin needs a good food source for good health (just like the rest of your body does), so focus on fresh healthy food with plenty of fruits and vegetables, complex carbohydrates, lean proteins and some “good” fats like omega-3 fatty acids and monounsaturated fats.

By minimizing the oil and grease you get in your diet, you can help avoid further breakouts, since these types of oils are at the knees perfect “food.” You do need healthy oils like omega-3 fatty acids and monounsaturated oils, though, for good health and good skin.
